Open-source software
BajsRoute uses the following open-source components. Our thanks to all the developer communities that maintain them.
| Component | Licence | Use in the app |
|---|---|---|
| Leaflet | BSD-2-Clause | Interactive map display |
| GraphHopper | Apache License 2.0 | Cycling route calculation (Directions API) |
| Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) | ODbL (data) / GPLv2 (software) | Geocoding – turning addresses into coordinates |
| Firebase SDK | Apache License 2.0 | Authentication, database, backend functions, hosting |
| Jetpack Compose | Apache License 2.0 | Android user interface |
Open data
The app is built on publicly available datasets:
| Source | Dataset | Licence / terms of use |
|---|---|---|
| ZG Geoportal (City of Zagreb) | City of Zagreb cycle paths | No usage restrictions (written confirmation by the City of Zagreb, April 2026) |
| ZG Geoportal (City of Zagreb) | Bajs public bike-share stations | No usage restrictions (written confirmation by the City of Zagreb, April 2026) |
| Bajs – bajs.zagreb.hr (nextbike GBFS) | Bike availability at Bajs stations (live) | CC0 1.0 (public domain) – with the operator's permission; availability of the source is not guaranteed |
| ZG Geoportal (City of Zagreb) | Public bicycle parking | No usage restrictions (written confirmation by the City of Zagreb, April 2026) |
| OpenStreetMap Foundation | Base map | Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL) |
| State Geodetic Administration (DGU) | Digital orthophoto 2024 – the "Orthophoto" base layer | Web view service (WMS) for anonymous users, free of charge – contains data of the State Geodetic Administration |
Note: in April 2026 the City of Zagreb confirmed in writing that the datasets listed above carry no usage restrictions or licence, and that storing local copies and fetching through the public API is permitted.
Bike availability data is fetched live from the public GBFS feed of the Bajs system
(gbfs.nextbike.net, CC0 1.0 licence) with the operator's permission. The operator does not
guarantee the source's continued availability – if the feed is unavailable, the app still shows station
locations, without bike counts. Data: Bajs – bajs.zagreb.hr
BajsRoute is an independent project by BInspired and is not an official app of the Bajs system. Data on Bajs stations is used with the operator's permission.
